Advanced Project Controls Professional – Scheduling
In this role you are responsible for all scheduling activities for moderate-level complexity projects or for a subset of high-level complexity project scope. You lead scheduling teams through all phases of a moderate complexity project and serve as a scheduling subject matter expert. As a mentor for junior members of the project controls team you must have advanced skills in communication, cross-cultural awareness, and leadership.

Essential functions:

  • Initiate and plan all scheduling aspects of a project, which includes, but is not limited to schedule baseline, schedule analytics, schedule updating. Apply tools and techniques to plan work such that inefficiencies are reduced and overall project performance is optimized.
  • Coordinate required tasks/deadlines. Escalate issues to appropriate levels of management.
  • Lead all planned schedule activities and ensure schedule adherence. Interpret and transmit project/contract requirements to functional groups.
  • Properly close the project by archiving schedule/tools. Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement, lessons learned, and risk avoidance for future work.
  • Identify, assess, and implement value-added improvement opportunities which will improve overall project performance. Create and administer lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle. "
  • Identify and provide schedule risk inputs to project risk management.
  • Prepare reconciliations, monthly reports, trends, forecast at completion estimates, variance analysis, manpower profiles and cash flows together with the Project Cost Controls personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

Required Competencies:

  • 6-12 years project controls experience in the position functional/technical area.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience on projects with a moderate to high-level complexity designation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Management Concepts.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills such as the ability to deliver effective verbal and written communications using English language.
  • Ability to operate and lead within complex team structures, able to analyze problems, establish facts, and make complex decisions with little to no supervision.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, coordinating efforts of cross-functional departments.
  • Ability to work independently with significant creativity - within general guidelines.
  • Proficient with both Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software and advanced knowledge in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Expected to successfully complete assigned training in Westinghouse Systems, Procedures, and Policies applicable to assignments.

Advanced ability to transform raw data into visual reports, understand database concepts in order to manage data within systems, understand the interaction of company functions that are touch points to projects (Finance, Legal, Quality, Supply Chain, etc.). Ability to develop and present high-quality, audience-appropriate reports and contribute to presentations. Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Construction Management or related technical discipline. Industry recognized Project Controls certification or be able to meet Westinghouse Project Controls Qualification requirements within a defined timeframe. Nuclear plant knowledge and experience preferred. Leadership experience on small teams in the area of Project Controls. Advanced knowledge and skill in project schedule, cost and risk management processes and associated tools (e.g. Primavera, SAP, Active Risk Manager, or other related tools).
