We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Application Architecture. The Director, Application Architecture, is responsible for establishing the overall technical design of all global software solutions and making all technical decisions within the enterprise. The application architect collaborates with business analysts, who write and deliver the functional specification, the architecture team who define the infrastructure required for solutions and the development team who develop/install the software solution. This is a highly technical role with a strong client-facing focus, providing the leadership and technical competence to deliver excellent client solutions. While there is likely to be limited, if any, hands on development, exceptional knowledge of software development practices is required in order to make sure the optimal solution is designed and that the developers work to the highest quality. The Director will be responsible for the following:

•Define and document the overarching application architecture (application roadmap) for all software development projects and installed software within the Westinghouse global environment
•Work closely with infrastructure technical staff to ensure solutions adhere to infrastructure standards and fit their strategic enterprise architecture
•Collaborate with senior business leadership to understand future requirements and direction of the business to ensure IT solution readiness and alignment
•Define and organize development tasks and ensure accurate estimation of these tasks
•Work closely with members of the development team to ensure that the software design and implementation adheres to the governance standards, architectural goals and quality standards
•Provide support to the business analysts, and other project team members, during functional requirements definition to ensure that existing solutions are leveraged and that recommended solutions conform to the established applications roadmap
•Undertake other duties as directed by Information Technology senior management commensurate with the post
Additionally, at the senior level, the duties and responsibilities include:
•Carrying out the above duties on all disparate technologies and/or integration with many third party systems
•Actively seeking opportunities to contribute improvements to Westinghouse’s application delivery process
•Mentoring junior members of the IT organization
•Acting as a focal point of expertise on key application technologies or skills
•Reviewing and/or collaborating on enterprise architectures

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Information or Computer Science, advanced degree preferred. Minimum of ten years experience with atleast three in application architecture.

Essential Experience and Knowledge
•Experience in application architecture
•Experience of the full software development lifecycle, delivering systems over multiple complex implementations
•Experience of architecting software solutions with demanding non-functional requirements such as performance, high availability, reliability, security, etc.
•Knowledge of a wide range of open source projects and components
•Excellent knowledge and understanding of object oriented design techniques and patterns
•Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP
•Knowledge of multiple standard software development methodologies
•Knowledge of integration patterns and technologies
•Knowledge of database design and network/infrastructure design experience
•Experience working with international operations, regulations, and cultures.
•Experience supporting extensive regulatory, safety, and quality requirements.
•Familiar with six-sigma and other tools for the analytical evaluation of application, system, and process options
•Knowledge of IT trends and able to articulate a vision for a future IT state in multiple domains
•Working knowledge of the ITIL management framework
•Client interaction experience
