We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager in Westinghouse Government Services. This position will be located in Richland, WA. In this position, an Engineering Manager can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Responsible for single point accountability to the 222-S Project Manager or Operations Manager for managing and overseeing 222-S Project Engineering to meet and exceed overall goals, annually established Performance Evaluation and Measurement Plan (PEMP) goals and Westinghouse Government Services’ goals.
  • The engineering manager plans, coordinates, and directs activities in engineering, including research and development.
  • This person leads a team of engineers to specify, design, analyzes and verify modifications and new components and systems meet their intent.
  • Engineering managers work with the management team (laboratory, facility and others) to develop suppliers, quality requirements and assembly and test procedures. The manager leads the design control and RCA processes, as well as resource planning and skills development for their team.
  • Check the technical accuracy of the work and soundness of the methods their staff uses
  • Direct and coordinate the design of facility systems and equipment
  • Confer with other levels of management on engineering activities
  • Propose budgets for projects and programs and determine staff, training, and equipment needs
  • Hire, assign, and supervise staff.
  • Determine technical, and operations, processes, and design improvements, and then they make detailed plans to accomplish these goals.
  • Provide resource support to the operations, quality assurance, testing and maintenance organizations.
  • Engineering managers must know how to budget, hire, and supervise. They propose budgets for projects and programs and determine staff, training, and equipment needs.
  • Engineering managers hire and assign people to carry out specific parts of each project. They supervise the work of these employees and set administrative procedures, policies, or standards, such as environmental standards.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Business.
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience including management of engineering services supporting operations for the government sector, i.e. nuclear experience in a leadership role.
  • 5+ years of experience managing deliverables for a nuclear facility or NRC equivalent.
  • 5+ years operational experience in a DOE, DOD or NRC high hazard facility.
  • If selected for the project, must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance.

Preferred:
  • Department of Energy (DOE) Category 3 or above facility engineering management experience.
  • 10+ years working with engineering and construction/operations union bargaining unit employees’.
  • Advanced level communication and office skills (Microsoft Office).
