This group is responsible for conducting equipment qualification (EQ) programs focusing on analysis and testing of safety-related products and components for Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) systems and electro-mechanical components (i.e. switchgear, motor control centers, breakers). These qualification activities are conducted to ensure safety-related equipment performs the required safety function during postulated accident scenarios. The primary equipment qualification activities involve seismic, environmental, and EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) testing and analysis to meet Nuclear Regulatory requirements.

The specific efforts related to the qualification programs that will be supported include documentation, testing, analysis, and verification of specific programs related to seismic and environmental events and conditions. An intern may assist in these activities including:

• Developing, writing, and verifying test plans, test reports, summary reports, and qualification data packages to support testing, analysis, and final customer deliverables.
• Providing technical support, guidance, and justifications related to equipment qualification testing processes and methodologies based on appropriate customer and industry regulations, requirements, and guidelines.
• Complete analysis and verification of structural components by calculations to ensure correct structural integrity during testing.
• Witnessing qualification testing at internal and external vendor laboratories.
• Supporting design reviews and design teams for equipment qualification related topics.

The successful candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (in-progress)
  • A GPA of at least 3.
