In this position, the Machining Supervisor can expect to be responsible for the following:

• Leads and directs all machining projects resources and needs including but not limited to personnel, training, equipment, vendors and sub-contractors.
• Coordinates and prepares communications between WEC Welding & Machining EMEA, customer(s) and site management and personnel.
• Executes all technical and commercial aspects of contracts on the job site per agreed time frame. Documents change orders and work scope as milestones are met or problems occur. Notifies Project Manager, WEC Welding & Machining EMEA management and customer(s) accordingly.
• Prepares shift and/or daily status reports for WEC Welding & Machining EMEA, site and customer(s) management.
• Ensures personal and team practice and understanding of ALARA principles and a “Safety First” attitude as an integral part of all activities. Demonstrates and promotes good housekeeping practices in work areas.
• Maintains a safe and ethical work environment as mandated by regulatory agencies, WEC Welding & Machining EMEA policies and procedures, and customer(s) requirements.
• Acts as subject matter expert (SME) to develop training and lesson plans and oversee program implementation. Provides or obtains technical and / or management assistance to field personnel as required.
• Develops, exercises and promotes team building skills with peers, superiors, contractors, customers, and other departments.
• Demonstrates customer sensitivity and customer service skills.
• Develops and delivers performance feedback on personnel to management for specific projects or work assignments.
• Actively promotes organizational initiatives and management objectives through positive approach, self-control, and reinforcement management.
• Develops and maintains a focus on creative problem solving.
• Controls project costs while maximizing optimum performance to meet requirements.
• Explains work requirements and instruct employees in work procedures, safety and quality issues.
• Discusses techniques and interpretation of assignments with all employees.
• Receives assignments, training, and reports status.
• Obtains and discusses information related to work assignments and projects.
• Provides technical direction and guidance to other personnel in equal or lower classifications. Provides leadership role, and promotes effective teamwork among other personnel.
• Demonstrates professionalism at all times understanding that his/her behavior has a significant impact on WEC Welding & Machining EMEA image and profitability.
• Performs duties of SME and supervisor / lead.
• Applies initiative, skill and experience to perform all assigned functions and to make additional contributions.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Academic or vocational high school graduate or recognized equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years machine shop experience that includes set-up, and operation of lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and precision grinding.
  • Five (5) years documented experience in field machining that includes but not limited to portable drilling, boring, milling, turning, and grinding operations may be substituted for the two (2) years machine shop experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree may be accepted in lieu of this experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience in machining and/or welding operations required. Must speak fluent French and English.
