We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Area Manager in our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Plant.
  • Direct department personnel, both exempt and non-exempt employees, to achieve quality, cost and productivity improvements consistent with plant objectives. Develop techniques and methods to maximize productivity and minimize costs while assuring all commitments of personnel and equipment are met in a quality manner, sometimes with very short notice.
  • Remain knowledgeable of EHS policies and procedures to inform personnel of upcoming changes. Develop and implement policies and guidelines in order to provide continued compliance and continuous improvement throughout the area operations. Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed and meeting or exceeding the standards and related policies, and enforce them within this supervised activity.
  • Establish area and individual objectives aligned with broader organizational strategy deployment; Ensures area performance objectives are met. Create an environment that encourages and supports employee participation through involvement in problem-solving, decision-making, and implementing change.
  • Builds workforce and leadership skills through targeted development assignments and other development activities. Effectively uses available tools and data to make investment decision in people and as a selection tool for promotions and developmental opportunities.
  • Coach staff to ensure necessary environmental, safety, and job-specific trainings have been conducted. Develop skill matrix and provide input to supervised exempt and non-exempt employees regarding performance observations and career development tools. Establish and coordinate a comprehensive technical training program for the skills required for specific assignments. Supervises area personnel regarding promotions, recognition, discipline, and performance management. Oversees the talent procurement and management processes to ensure effective depth of talent throughout the area, appropriate succession planning and development, and performance management to meet short and long term business needs.
  • Manage the area strategy deployment development, implementation, and monitoring to drive continuous improvements. Collaborate with other areas to meet the organizational vision.
  • Collaborate with employees to establish and maintain an organization capable of operating efficiently and effectively in the production, inspection, and shipment of product. Handle concerns and issues and attempt to resolve fairly and efficiently.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with either a technical or Business focus.
  • 5 years management experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Fundamental knowledge of business and performance improvement technology and applications.
  • Business strategic planning, implementation and cost savings
