Churchill Lab Services currently has an opening for a Principal Corrosion Engineer. In this position, a Principal Corrosion Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:

• Knowledge of material degradation mechanisms, including, general corrosion, stress corrosion cracking, fatigue, and oxidation.••

• Demonstrated skill in evaluation of stress corrosion cracking in austenitic stainless steels is required, and additional demonstrated skill in evaluation of stress corrosion cracking in nickel base alloys is preferred.

• Testing knowledge and experience with elevated temperature, elevated pressure, and complex solution chemistry control in pressure vessel (autoclave) test rigs.
• Coordinate activities associated with failure analysis of both new and legacy nuclear power plant components, including analytical testing techniques such as electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, optical metallography, and hardness testing
• Develop or grow knowledge of radiation induced damage mechanisms in reactor vessel and reactor internals materials.
• Interpret material examinations and material testing results and generate customer deliverable failure analysis reports
• Familiarity with applicable ASME Codes, Standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to nuclear reactor vessels and reactor internals materials.
• Support bid, offer, and proposal process for winning new testing and analysis contracts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate regularly with internal functional groups and customers
• Ability to plan and schedule work to meet assigned schedule and budget requirements

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

• B.S. or M.S. in Corrosion Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
• Must be able to acquire certification of unescorted access to radioactive material quantities of concern (RAMQC) based on criminal background checks.
• 2+ years of experience with corrosion engineering or recent Masters or PHD graduates who specialized in corrosion engineering.
