We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer in out Madison, PA facility.

This job posting is for a position in the Rotating Equipment Services (RES) Engineering group, primarily focusing on pump shaft seals. Our group has the component/design responsibility for reactor coolant pumps, reactor coolant pump motors, shaft seals, auxillary motors, and auxillary that Westinghouse services at the utility power plant sites as well as our own refurbishment shops both for Westinghouse OEM components as well as other manufacturers.

As the lead seal engineer for RES, this engineering position is responsible for power plant operational support/troubleshooting, testing and qualification of components, manufacturing support and follow, piping and instrumentation system evaluation, design basis drawing and document creation/revision, reports, commercial dedication instructions, participation in reliability teams, etc.

1. Perform engineering design and analysis, identify problems and propose operational solutions to projects and tasks that are partially defined and moderately complex in nature, requiring knowledge and experience within given disciplines.
2. Ensure proper controls are in place and document supporting evaluations and analyses.
3. Verify work of other engineers on assignments that range from basic to moderately complex in nature.
4. Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate Westinghouse management as well as designated customer engineering personnel.
5. Participate on project teams with internal and/or external representation. May lead teams on well-defined projects.
6. Prepare technical description section for various proposals, including cost benefit studies.
7. Propose and initiate test programs and evaluate results.
8. Identify and communicate areas for product/service improvements to management personnel.
9. Participate in customer and vendor meetings to present technical materials and justification of services and product designs.
10. Provide technical guidance, training, and/or direction to other personnel.
11. Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements.
12. Act as primary investigator on minor company sponsored Research and Development programs.
13. Identify and assist in development of new business opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, chemical, or industrial preferred), or equivalent.
2. Typically six to ten plus years of applicable engineering experience is required. Academic study in applicable discipline may be used to satisfy some experience requirement.
3. 5+ years of experience with rotating equipment such as motors and pumps and the seals associated with them.
4. Ability to travel up to 25%.
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, reading manufacturing drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
