Our Nuclear Fuels Group is seeking a Senior Materials Process Engineer for its Specialty Metals Plant (SMP) located in Blairsville, Pennsylvania. The employees of SMP manufacture zirconium-alloy tubing products used in nuclear fuel assemblies for Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel, our licensees, and other customers worldwide. At our facility, we use state-of-the-art manufacturing and inspection systems to meet the exacting standards and demanding tolerances required by our customers.

In this position, a Senior Materials Process Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:

- Provide technical leadership/project management in design, development, qualification, training, performance, and delivery of technical products and services for projects that require integration of team efforts across multi-functional groups.

Required Skills:

• Problem-solving capabilities to propose, direct, and integrate solutions to complex, loosely defined technical problems and to identify approaches for resolution of technical issues.
• Coordinate and integrate complex technical projects across multi-functional groups, within schedule and budget.
• Lead engineering work and instruct, train, and guide personnel on significant technical projects, tasks, and activities.
• Provide periodic updates and recommendations regarding the nature and status of projects to all appropriate internal and external personnel.
• Develop and deliver presentations to communicate statuses, problem resolutions, recommendations, or promote business-related products.
• Develop new or improve existing products and services using current technical advancements and coordinate/prepare supporting documentation.
• Provide expert knowledge within specific engineering discipline to peers, vendors, and customers.
• Develop procedures, processes, and methods for implementing technical requirements.
• Provide direct engineering support to operations covering all aspects of assigned process or area of responsibility.
• Monitor and correct quality problems associated with new and existing manufacturing processes and/ or material
• Evaluate manpower, equipment and systems needed to accomplish objectives.
• Develop, debug and qualify new processes/ techniques.
• Apply modern engineering science (such as lean manufacturing concepts, six-sigma methodology and statistical process analysis) theories to continuously improve efficiency of manufacturing processes.
• Material properties associated with cold working and annealing operations, ideally within tube manufacturing processes.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent required. Metallurgical or Material Science engineering preferred.
• 2 years of applicable experience required.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials and quality assurance protocols are beneficial.
• Cold metal working with recrystallization annealing preferred.
• Project management experience is a plus
