Your Day-to-Day:

* Develop complete and accurate specialty welding and machining project estimates that are aligned with current market price points. Primary focus will be on industrial sector projects including but not limited to: petrochemical, fossil plant power generation, natural gas facilities, and specialized services to EPCs.
* Responsible to develop, capture, and close competitive cost estimates for maintenance, modifications, and new installation projects. Must collect and analyze data on all of the factors that can affect costs, such as materials, labor, location, duration of the project, and special machinery/equipment requirements.
* Track historical estimates and analyze to continuously improve quality of bids.
* Review customer RFQs / RFPs, including engineering specifications and drawings, to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and overall plan for the actual project execution as basis for the estimate.
* Perform “Take-Offs” to determine the quantity of materials and labor required to complete the project. Must make decisions concerning equipment needs, the sequence of operations, the size of the crew required, and physical constraints at the site; including allowances for wasted materials, inclement weather, shipping delays, and other factors that may impact estimate.
* Attend site pre-bid meetings and walk-downs prior to form a plan of operations and identify any problems or conditions that may influence execution.
* Understand all aspects of project processes including project management plans, scope of work, schedule, cost baselines, and risk management.
* Develop scope, schedule, and requirements for subcontractor RFQ’s, through supply chain. Manage vendor offers/estimate as a strategic advantage.
* Develop preliminary project schedules and Work Breakdown Structures to ensure alignment with RFQ and project delivery goals.
* Interpersonal skills to cultivate positive relationships with team and customer.
* Limited travel may be required
* Identify, assess, and implement improvement or recovery opportunities that will promote successful project delivery.



Minimum Requirements:

Who You Are:
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related technical discipline or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a project estimator and a history of estimating large scale welding and machining projects (5 years in technical/project management role and 5 years as a project estimator may be considered as equivalent); full experience in project estimating preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, such as effective verbal and written communications; ability to lead team members; ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders; and ability to make decisions and carry out multiple tasks as assigned
  • Knowledge and skill of project scheduling and bottom-up cost estimating.
  • Must possess strong experience and user ability for MS Project Scheduling and MS Excel.
  • Strong understanding and experience with large scale specialty welding and machining projects for high energy piping at power plants and other industrial settings.​
