We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Welding Services Field Engineer at our location in Waynesboro, GA. The Welding Services Field Engineer supports the implementation of the welding program at the Vogtle 3&4 Project. Position may be days or nights depending on project needs and schedule.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
• Ensures the proper implementation and maintenance of the WECTEC/Stone & Webster Welding Program
• Supports the Site Welding Engineering Program Manager with the execution of all project welding activities in accordance with the Welding Program Manual, regulatory, code and contract requirements
• Reports to the Site Welding Engineering Program Manager for day-to-day direction
• Administration and technical support of all welding management software and welding records management activities. Implementing and administrating the welding management program and associated software programs within the welding department for tracking of welding procedures, weld data sheets, welding records, welder qualification reports, welding accept reject rate tracking and weld quantity tracking.
• Ordering and maintaining weld department materials inventory including consumables.
• Interfacing with NDE contractor for required records activities and tracking of reject and acceptance rate per welder.
• Providing training on the site-welding program to new welders including but not limited to indoctrination in filler metal control, WDS completion, WPS usage and welding control procedures.
• In-process surveillance and oversight of welding, including but not limited to: verifying compliance procedural requirements of the site welding program, verification of welder/welding operator qualifications, review of weld data sheets, weld maps
• Update welder continuity in the welding management software program
• Generating welder qualification and continuity records and performing records transmittal to site document control.
• Oversight of filler material issue and return at rod rooms including review of filler material issue slips to ensure proper completion of entries
• Resolving WDS software technical issues during review
• Maintaining weld inspection or qualification test report database for tracking of weld test results, inspections, filler material usage and percentage of reject rate for each welder and supervisor.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

Basic Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years nuclear power or heavy construction/industrial experience related to welding or QA program management
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with welding or work control management software
  • Experienced with the use of ASME and AWS welding codes and associated procedures.

Other Job Requirements:
  • Must be able to secure unescorted access authorization to plant site.
  • Experience with evaluation and resolution of project welding related problems.
  • Experienced in the development of project welding requirements and plans.
  • Must be able to physically perform the job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, see and hear within legal limits.
  • Must have advanced computer skills in welding or work control management software and be able to master use of welding management software such as Codeman for entry of welder qualifications. Expertise in generic software program such as Microsoft Office is also required.

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
  • Associates Degree in a welding related field or an Associates Degree in Information Technology or similar/equivalent experience
  • 4 years experience with nuclear records processing software or welding management software
